Hi, I’m a thirtysomething ex-physio living in PE, right near the sea with my hubby, 2 young daughters and 2 dogs.

I grew up in PE but then went to study at Stellenbosch where I met my husband in my second year. We married in 2003, while working in the UK (wedding was in PE) and then moved back to Cape Town for him to specialise as a plastic surgeon. I also specialised to work with children, specifically those with the vast range of neurological problems (from Cerebral Palsy to your average clumsy child).

While still at school I was diagnosed with PCOS, something my mom, aunt and cousin all also have. I thought conceiving would maybe take us a little longer but never dreamed of what was to lie ahead.

Many rounds of clomid, 2 IUI’s, 2 IVF’s, 2 FET’s and 2 miscarriages later we have two gorgeous little girls. Zoe, born in February 2007 and Ava, in June 2009.

I think we’re done with our little family. I am so happy to have 2 little girls as I never had a sister and always wanted one, so I hope and pray my two girls will be very close.

Through our journey with infertility I have met some remarkable and incredibly strong people and it has strengthened both my marriage and faith in God, for which I am so grateful.

This is my diary as a mom, (maybe physio again one day), wife of a plastic surgeon and Christian and our family’s journey as we start a new life, home and career in PE.
